G’day,
Tonight while doing my HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) I experienced that thing that runners often talk about…the runner’s high! The natural rush I experienced for was for two reasons.
Two Reasons I Got A Runner’s High
The first was a breakthrough in my HIIT cycle, I upped my speed increments by 0.5 km/h across the board. I finally beat my previous best from Day 16: I HIIT It!
My new cycle consisted of 1 minute each at 6, 11.5, 13.5 and 15.5 km/h (repeated four times) with the last increment on the 4th cycle at two minutes.
The euphoria I felt was on achieving this milestone was the second reason for my runner’s high as I have not been in this territory for over 6 years.
At my peak of fitness in 2000 I was on a HIIT cycle of 6, 12.5, 14.5 and 16.5 km/h. I am absolutely ecstatic to be nudging these numbers again after so long!
Muscle Rounds Part 2
I also did part 2 of my Muscle Rounds routine today, this time for upper body.
I consolidated on last week’s routine by holding steady on the majority of weight increments while increasing weight on back (bent-over rows) and triceps (“skull crushers” a.k.a lying tricep extensions). All in all I was ecstatic with the progress I made today. Inch by inch!

P.S I took my pics 1 hour after my cardio session and if you look closely you can still see the sweat on my chest! Whew! That’s what I call the aftermath of a runner’s high!
