The day I often thought about (and feared!) has arrived…today is the day I turned 50!
Even just typing these words feels strange! I remember turning 40 and feeling “ok” with it, like I was still on the “right” side of 50. Now that I have actually hit that mark I’ll have adopt my sister Kel’s reframing of this milestone,
“Don’t worry Ad, 50 is the new 30”!
In the fair dinkum department I can say with certainty that I am absolutely ecstatic to be turning 50 with my health the best that it has been since my mid-30’s. In fact, judging by the blood work I got done recently I may be the healthiest I’ve ever been! There is no doubt that my 6-month abstinence from alcohol and junk food has boosted many of my health markers.
I can also say that restarting this blog has been a great creative outlet for me. When I rebooted on August 10, 2021 I did it with the understanding that it may never be read by anyone other than me, and I was okay with that. I guess this is what people call a “passion project”, something that you enjoy doing for its own sake.
So, what’s next? In the short term my next big milestone will be Day 1000. I’ve got a couple of things I’d like to accomplish before this day arrives! Medium term, I’ve got some big ideas that I’ve been kicking around in my mind for a while. In due time I guess I’ll see if I can make those dreams a reality.
One thing I can say with absolute certainty is that my health (both mental and physical) will be my No.1 priority moving forward. In other words, 50 can only be the new 30 if I’m in tip-top heath!
Until Day 916 (the final day of M10),
Eat Clean,
Shred Hard,
Think BIG!

P.S. I’ve put a few of my pre-50th party pics below!
P.P.S I’m still 100% on my alcohol abstinence for 2024, but my junk food (cake and chocolates) and soft drink numbers took a hit over my birthday!
P.P.S. Check out the RTP Time Machine below for a post I made on this day 17 years ago…my 33rd birthday! I don’t know whether to laugh or cry when I see that picture now!

Happy 50th Birthday Adam!
Embrace the moment mate and be proud of the remarkable way in which you have worked so hard to approach this birthday milestone with a massive amount of positive momentum.
That cake looks a lot bigger than your chocolate Osaka birthday cake 😀
Best wishes and all the best for your birthday.
Thanks Phil! Yeah, it would have been a real downer if I stayed where I was three years ago. Overcoming the mental hurdle of “I’m too old” in my 40’s was hard enough, in your 50’s the task is even tougher I reckon. You are right about the cake mate, I reckon it was about a foot deep!
Happy Birthday mate
Looking forward to seeing what you got planned in the future…
🎂
Thank you Xavier!
Happy 50th Adam! 50 isn’t so bad. Lol.
I don’t get on hete every day, but I do try to check in on you.
I’m really proud of how far you’ve come.
Hey Suzette, great to hear from you and thank you! Turning 50 has not been so bad so far…but it is still early days:)
