G’day,
The first thing I’d like to do is wish everyone out there a very Merry Christmas! May it be a time for you to reconnect with your family, roots and traditions.
On the Gold Coast it is almost always a hot and humid Christmas, though this year they are predicting thunderstorms!
Our Aussie Christmas
Either way, we will follow our regular program of church service at 9am followed by Christmas lunch, a short nap and lots of music (my nap used to be much longer as it was actually a food and alcohol induced “coma”).
Today being Christmas Eve we also catch up for a couple of drinks and the Aussie Christmas Carols. This also used to be a big drinking night for me, but now I limit myself to just a few beers. My tolerance to alcohol has decreased as my health has improved…weird how that works!
New Weight Milestone!
Incidentally, today was a special one in terms of weight milestones. I weighed in today at 169.9 lbs, which puts me under 170 lbs for the first time since my Day 999 in 2009! In contrast, it was interesting to see my “Time Machine” post from two years ago (on December 24, 2021) where I was 207.8 lbs.
For long periods over the last two years I felt like I had stalled, though looking at this post I realise I did make progress! I guess this is one of the benefits of real time accountability, you can always see how far you have come (or what you have to do to get back there!).
That’s about all for me today, see you next week for New Year’s Eve!
Until then,
Eat Clean,
Shred Hard,
Think BIG!

Merry Christmas, Adam!!
What a great milestone! I wish I looked this good at 170 lbs. (Where I’m at currently but with too much body fat. My ideal goal weight would be 150-155 lbs).
Sounds like you have a great Christmas day planned! Our weather in southeast Michigan is actually going to be unseasonably warm for this time of year! (In the 50’s Fahrenheit. Usually in the 30’s F. I think it’s actuallysupposed to rain this week…instead of snow.)
I’m really proud of you and how far you’ve come in this journey from the very beginning in 2006 and your comeback this past 860 days!
And a Happy New Year to you Suzette! Our Christmas Day on the Gold Coast started off very hot and humid and ended with one of the most fierce storms we have ever seen!! Power our, gates blown open, trees down, traffic lights out! Very destructive up and down the east coast of Oz! I hope it was more pleasant in Michigan!
It was pleasant. Very mild for this time of year here. Little bit of rain. Not much else.
Ready to make positive progress in 2024.
Great to hear Suzette, I look forward to seeing your progress!
Well said Suzette
Thanks Adam for documenting and sharing the ups, downs and in-betweens of what is starting to look like a life long journey to master self control and discipline, body and mind, day by day, week by week, month by month. The hero of this story isn’t born in Hollywood, a Royal Family or have any established ‘table setting’ to launch, leverage or rely upon. He is just like 99% of everyone else I know and just like me. Ok, I am talking my self up here…he is more honest, more determined, more committed and more disciplined but the first to admit he has had to work damn hard to get here, stay there and keep out of the abys, pull others up and warn others not to fall in.
Merry Christmas Adam – may the journey never end or I have to find another book to read – LOL
Haha, thank you Phil, what a paragraph, I’m humbled mate! You know what, your line about it being a lifelong journey to master self control and discipline is the crux of what this is all about. The choices we make every day have an impact and they tend to compound over time, good or bad. I’ve been thinking recently that life is “just” a series of days. It sounds flippant in a way, but it rings true to me, because if we don’t control our individual days what do we control? All the best in 2024 Phil, also did the storms get you down there? They were vicious up here!
Hey Ad, we have had some rain but nothing like you guys up there in QLD or in Melbourne. We are on holidays down the coast so between the storms and shocking weather. Hope you’re ok mate, keep the torches easy to reach 😆. Love the New Year’s resolutions and I always do the same each year, set goals for the year in a book I carry every day. Couldn’t agree with you more, every day counts and each one makes up the big picture of a full life worth living. Like Suzette quote also about actions and habits, so true. Looking forward to 2024, Good luck !
G’day Phil! I hope your holidays have given you good weather mate, the rain just keeps falling up in “sunny” Qld! That is a great idea mate, carrying around something around that keeps your goals/resolutions nearby would definitely make you think twice before breaking it! Have a good rest of your holiday mate!
