The day I dreamed of (and many times thought would never come) has finally arrived…I am now down 100 lbs since Day 1 on August 10, 2021.
How Long Would It Take To Lose 100 lbs?
Here’s the funny thing, I knew from Day 1 that losing 100 lbs was going to be a long hard road. Doing some simple calculations prior to Mission 1 I knew that losing 100 lbs in a sensible manner would take at least 270 days.
Little did I realise that after losing 81.7 lbs in 200 days the last 19 lbs would take 645 days! One thing I didn’t plan on was developing a “loose skin” issue after Mission 2. This forced me to put the brakes on my weight loss because if I kept going nothing short of surgery would fix it.
From Weight Loss to Maintenance
This change of mindset from weight loss to “maintenance” was a difficult adjustment early on during Mission 3. I really had to fight my own innate desire to achieve that 100 lb weight loss as quickly as possible! Judging my how my loose skin issue has slightly improved since Day 200 I would have to say I made the right decision.
In addition, I really wanted to create an accountability system for myself that would help me sustain this weight loss. This is why I switched from daily accountability in Year 1 to weekly accountability in Year 2 and beyond. This allowed me to transition back to “normal” life 6 out of 7 days a week and “hold the line” on my weight loss. So far so good!
How I lost The Last 20 lbs!
After getting through multiple niggles, injuries and motivation issues I finally hit a sweet spot around July of this year. By this stage I had become accustomed to my new weekly accountability protocol and decided to have a real crack at losing 100 lbs in total.
This would mean I’d need to get to 79 kgs in the metric system. From July 2023 I slowly but surely improved my sleep habits and nutritional discipline. For me, sleep consistency (same sleep and wake time every day) is the “capstone” through which all other good habits flow. This, paired with good nutrition (whole foods, zero alcohol, no added sugar, etc) were the two critical factors in losing the last 20 lbs.
Where To From Here?
My main goal now is getting under 12% body fat for my Mission 10 Birthday Shred, I am two weeks into this Mission and feeling like I will get there. From there it will be full steam ahead to Mission 11 and Day 1000 where I aim to be under 10% body fat. My overarching mission is to be the healthiest I can be in my 50’s!
However, whatever happens from here on out I will not go back over the 80kg barrier! For me to sustain my 100 lb weight loss over the long haul I must set a boundary of what is acceptable and “nip it in the bud” quickly. My twelve years in the “abyss” taught me that!
Until next week…
Eat Clean,
Shred Hard,
Think BIG!

Hey Davo, thanks mate👍👍you’ve been with me every step of the way on this journey, starting with our weekly games of squash when I was 125kgs plus!
You’ve inspired me too mate, with your consistency and dedication to golf and fitness👍

Proud of you, Adam! 100 lbs is a huge feat! If you remember, I had a rather large weight loss many years ago. I can very much relate to struggling with those last 10-20 lbs. I’ve been struggling the past 15 years, up and down those last 10-20lbs.
My hats off to you for getting it done, Sticking with it and never giving up.
G’day Suzette! Thank you very much, you have seen the whole journey up and down and been there yourself with your own big weight loss. That last 15-20 lbs is very tough for sure, kinda weird how it is “easier” physiologically to lose the weight at the beginning (but tougher mentally!).
Keep shredding Suzette👍👍
