After two surf sessions in two days I felt like I was getting closer to catching (and standing up) on all waves I go for! If there is one thing currently holding me back it is the “pop-up.”
This is the critical moment where you have caught a wave and you go from flat on your board to the stand up position. Yesterday in particular I noticed that when my “pop-up” speed and feet placement was “off” I would wipeout!
So, in order to fix that I have decided to update my usual “Cuff and Core” to a “Surf Core” routine! What this means is that I have added push-ups, planks and “pop-ups” onto my existing chin-ups, hanging leg raises and rotator cuff routine.
Today was the first time I included the new exercises, the new one were a little tough but with time I reckon my numbers will improve (and hopefully my surfing!). I have included a screenshot above, I was actually shocked I got out 27 pushups on the first go!
