G’day,
What a day…I went to back to Snapper Rocks, watched the pros from the shoreline for about ten minutes (may have seen Parko?), then paddled out and caught a few waves myself. Amazing! In my wildest dreams I could not have imagined this scenario nine months ago.
Actually, after a few recent sessions where I was unable to stand up I was getting a little frustrated. However, yesterday I had a major realisation when I briefly stood up (and slipped off)…I need to wax my board! Â
So, on the way home I picked up some “base coat” and “tropical” wax and lathered the board in it. What a difference it made! Once I got to my feet today I could actually adjust my position on the board without falling off!Â

This is also one of the advantages of using a longboard as a newbie, there is a lot of margin for error due to the width and length. Add wax to that and it means you give yourself every chance of standing up and cruising the shore breaks!
Until tomorrow,
AJ
