G’day,
Today was one of those days…again. I’ve had quite a few of these over the last couple of months. The days where my schedule gets out of whack early due to a lack of discipline and planning, which is then compounded by long, rainy days at work.
Today, I let it get to me. Even while driving home from work after a long day I still had enough time to get my workout in, however, I choose to go straight home. I took the soft option and affirmed my decision with “go home, get some rest and start early tomorrow.”
Now, this may appear as though I am being too hard on myself, especially by saying I took the “soft” option. But, from Day 1 I decided to be real with myself when days like this occur (which they inevitably will). It is also true that while I did take the soft option I also have enough “credit” in the bank with myself to know that I will bounce back tomorrow.
If this was happening during the early weeks of Mission 1 it would be a different story. This is because during the formative stages of a Mission (especially after a long lay off) you set the standards of what you will and will not accept throughout the course of those 84 days.
With multiple consecutive Missions under my belt I can now give myself a little more leeway with “off days” because I know from recent prior experience I will bounce back. Put simply I have a lot of trust in myself regarding follow-though that I didn’t have one year ago.
Until tomorrow,
AJ
