Day 99: DEXA Scan Results – Bodyfat Shock!

G’day,

The results are in, and the verdict is…my home scales are way off! Like really off! As you can see from my weight stat below, today I weighed in at 101.6 kgs and 19.6% bodyfat according to my home scales.

And in comparison, my DEXA scan yesterday has me at 27.6% bodyfat! That is a full 8 points higher than my home reading. I knew all along my home scales could be off, but never did I think by that much. However, I have also said that I am only using it as a guide (the weight measurements are quite accurate) and I will continue to do so for simplicity sake.

With all that said, my DEXA scan reveals that my current lean mass is 71.7 kgs (157 lbs) and fat mass is 28.6 kgs (63 lbs). This makes sense to me as I do recall my previous best shape being around 80 kgs (176 lbs) at 10% bodyfat which equates to 72 kgs (158 lbs) of lean mass and 8 kgs (17 lbs) of fat mass.

What this all means is pretty simple, if I can “hold the line” on lean mass I have a tangible shot at replicating my previous best if I can reduce my bodyfat to around 10% (ie, removing another 20 kgs of fat from here on out). While retaining all lean mass is easier said than done I’m gonna give it my best shot!

Until tomorrow,

AJ

P.S. I have included my DEXA scan below.
