
G’day,
Fifteen years ago I started this blog with my first Day 1 on November 8, 2006 so it seems only fitting that I kick off my new Mission on the same date!
While my current Mission is “2” it still feels like very early days into my long-term plan to regain my health, fitness and sense of purpose. Proof of this is the fact that on Day 1 November 8, 2006 I weighed in at 84 kg (185 lbs) and even though I’m on a “Mission 2” now I currently weigh in at 103.4 kg (227 lbs), still 20 kgs (44 lbs) heavier!
Mission 2 Details:
This Mission is 84 days long and will end on January 30, 2022. For my training I will be following the original RTP Transformation System that so many Shredders used so successfully back in the day. I will slightly modify my HIIT training to incorporate some bike and swim “steady state” into the program.
With my nutrition I will maintain the same as Mission 1 just completed. This means I will once again be avoiding added sugar, seed oils, processed carbs and alcohol. I’d also like to minimise my consumption of artificial sweeteners this time around, like aspartame and splenda. For me, this means I’ll aim to cut down on “no sugar” soft drinks.
Mission 2 Goals:
I will maintain my end of Mission “Judgement Day Challenges” for M2. I will try to improve on my times for 250m swim and 5km run. This time around I will add in 20km bike ride, push-ups and pull-ups. For me, these five elements are the fundamentals of fitness and strength. See my “Mission 2: Parameters” for the times and numbers I aim to beat.
I will also add in a “fun” sport category this time around. With the fundamentals being worked on I’ll pick a sport or activity I’ve always wanted to do but didn’t. For this one I choose surfing! Where I live I am surrounded by 70km of beautiful beaches, time to get out there. I’ll aim to stand-up and catch a few waves on Day 84!
Mission 2 Protocols:
With this Mission I’ll follow the same protocols I did in M1. That is a daily practice of my mindset, motivation and visualisation rituals. I’ll also be keeping up my daily accountability practice as well…of course!
So it begins, let’s see where I end up on January 30, 2022!
