G’day,
Mission 8 has officially begun! I have taken the pics, started my workout plan, shot a video and got all my stats together for one final Mission over this two-year period!
As opposed to the finish of Mission 7 when I was run down with the flu I actually feel good on this particular Day 1. It is hard to explain, but the vibe I feel is similar to the way I felt all the way on August 10, 2021 (M1 Day 1).
Mission 8 Goals
It is a good thing that I am feeling positive and optimistic because I have set myself a big challenge for this Mission. Broadly speaking, I’d like to get into the best shape of my life! To be specific, this means a sub-10% body fat at a weight of sub-80kg (176 lbs). These are the numbers I “touched” back in August 2009, but did not maintain.
This goal represents the biggest challenge I have set myself since I rebooted my blog in August 2021. Why? Because, as of today, I am 87.4 kgs (193.1 lbs) at 17.6%. While I did lose 38 kgs (83 lbs) over my first two Missions I can attest that this final 8 kgs will be much tougher (as I have not been able to make a break 85kgs over the last 15 months).
Mission 8 Sport: Rock Climbing
Like the first five Missions where I included a new sport as part of my Mission I am doing the same with this one. This time around it is rock climbing! I have been fascinated with rock climbing ever since I saw Mission Impossible II back in the day! I have zero experience however, so I’ll start with an indoor climbing clinic and aim to graduate to an “outdoor climb” by the end of M8!
Mission 8 Judgement Day
I’ll also be returning to my Judgement Day Challenges this Mission. I’ll be doing a 5km run, a 250m swim, chin ups, pushups and hanging leg raises on Day 84. I’ll then compare those numbers to the end of Mission 1, hopefully a solid improvement in baseline fitness.
Alright, that’s about all from me today, time to get some zzzz’s!
Until next week,
Eat Clean,
Shred Hard,
Think BIG!

Looks like you are becoming a success again. Your diligence and hard work has paid off. Also how you have navigated through the setbacks has also been an inspiration as you continued to come back. Well done.
Thank you Carlos! Every now and again when I feel like I’m maxing out in the gym I think about how hard you must have trained to become world champion, it boggles my mind!
It was extreme, especially at age 38 for the World Championships
At age 38? I didn’t realise that mate, what an effort!
