Day 385: In The Drink…Again!

Mission 5: Week 2 Results


My second week on Mission 5 is complete! However, unlike last week where I got a perfect compliance score (70/70) this week I missed three scheduled workouts (1 weight training and two cardio sessions). So, my CAPS has come down to 97.8%.

I let work get the best of me this week. I was ultra busy, but I knew I would be so that is no excuse. I should have done my workouts in the morning prior to work, instead I left them to the end of the day when I was totally spent. There were two days in particular where I just went straight home (instead of the gym). This has been an ongoing issue for me, one that I can hopefully rectify this week.


As a consequence of those missed workouts my weight actually went up this week, from 90.9kg (200.4 lbs) to 91.6kg (201.9 lbs). While this is still in an “acceptable” range for me I wouldn’t want it to go up much further. Interestingly, my bodyfat is showing a slight decrease.

Workout/Step/Sleep Stats:

As mentioned above I did miss three training sessions this week, not good. Of the workouts I completed I did up the baselines for each. I increased the weight successfully on all my lifts for Strong 5×5 as well my average pace on my run.

With my very busy week I managed to maintain a strong average daily step count of 18k plus. In fact, on work days I hit 10k before lunch time! Incredibly, I averaged the exact same amount of sleep this week to last week, 6 hours and 34 minutes! This is above my minimum threshold of 6 hours sleep per night so that is a green tick.

New Sport: Sailing

This was kinda brutal…I ended up “in the drink” again! However, unlike last week’s capsizing there was one crucial difference, I forgot to lock in the “dagger board” before I went out on the water! This meant that when I capsized I had no easy way to right the dinghy (as I would lean on the dagger board to turn the boat back up).

With the help of my coach I was able to get the boat going again, about 10 minutes later. This was a valuable lesson in the world of sailing, double check all rigging, rope lines and attachments before hitting the water! Hopefully this week I’ll spend more time on the water than in it!
