Day 372 Video: Mission 5 Begins (With Learn To Sail Goal!)

G’day,

Here we go again…another Mission has begun! After a seven day “semi-active” rest I’ve hit the go button on a new 84-day Mission…and a new sport! 

That’s right, after trying my hand at surfing, triathlon and golf over the last three Missions I’ve decided to get back on the water and (attempt) to learn how to sail! Ever since I read Jesse Martins’ book Lionheart back in 2001 I’ve been fascinated with sailing, especially epic stories of solo circumnavigation.

However, up until recently I’ve never really had the “guts” (or fitness) to fully commit to this goal. Well, that all changes now! I’m actually already one week into a four-week course on learning to sail “Laser Dinghies”! 

On week four I’ll have an open water test where I have to sail a Laser single-handed in a triangle formation! If all goes well I may attempt sailing on larger craft, but I’ll see if I can get through this one first!

Onto the specifics of Mission 5. Unlike every previous Mission I have undertaken this will be my first Mission on weekly accountability! I will be posting weekly updates every Monday.

These updates will include physique progress pictures (of course!) along with my weight/bodyfat numbers and Garmin stats. My accountability points system will transition into a weekly scoring system based on the last seven days compliance.
